This website is back in update mode after my brief stint as a blogger. Check out http://chandracrawford.blogspot.com/ if you're looking for some of my summer news. For long periods of the training season I neglected updating at all, preferring instead to go underground and train like a ninja turtle for a battle royale with Shredder. Less talk; more action.
My training season has been pretty good and I've managed to keep injuries in check while learning a lot about the quirks and quarks of my lower legs. Thank you to the various medical experts the world over who have assisted in this and thank you to Roger Jackson of Own The Podium and Davin Macintosh of Cross Country Canada for agreeing to fund a physio to travel with our team - this has really helped.
Currently I am in Ramsau, Austria to do some boot fit work and train on snow on the Dachstein glacier for a week before the Canadian team starts their overseas campaign Nov 5th. I will join Devon Kershaw, Alex Harvey and Graham Nishikawa in Sweden next week for the pre-season training camp and our first race will be the Swedish trials races in Bruksvalaarna Nov 14/15.
Training here in beautiful Ramsau is really great, although in my solitude I lament the fact that many a cool Canadian has been here over the past month (a team 40-strong from Quebec as well as the National Biathlon Team) and I showed up as the credits were rolling. Well to be more exact the credits were done and the theatre was deserted. Being the gregarious Canadian that I am, friends are being made and I was saved from lonliness by the great German skier Claudia Nystad (nee Keunzel) who lives here with her husband Trond. Extremely hard training ensued and my spirits have been lifted.
Hope everyone is finding some snow in Canada!
