July 11, 2010 - YoYo Camp 2010 is Over!

YoYo Camp 2010 is over. With 4 trips to over 2300 meters in just 23 days the winter weather, altitude, volume and intensity made this camp incredibly hard. Although I enjoyed the work and beautiful mountain scenery I am relieved to have it done and satisfied with three big weeks of 21, 22 and 23 hours. I'm in my happy/tired state and enjoying a few easy days here at home before resuming normal training.

I'm grateful to Joel Jacques, Justin Wadsworth, Eric DeNys and James Cunningham for all the support through these many hours and mountain passes. My teammates Dasha, Perianne and Sarah were incredible companions to share the load with and we kept spirits light with laughter and bears away with our singing.

tunes
Tunes are key for morale boosts at the end of 5 hours workouts!

great skiing
The Haig Glacier is in great shape and so is my team after some good quality hours up at 2700 meters with Justin going for it with our technique improvements.

Peri
Perianne Jones got stronger and stronger through the camp and if Peri's in a t-shirt you know it's hot out!

inside the hut
The inside of our main hut at the foot of the glacial moraine is a place for good food, good times and monopoly.

Daitch
Sarah Daitch demos how to ollie on snowshoes. X Games have not been ruled out, we're just waiting for some major endorsements from Red Bull for pushing the limits of snowshoeing.

Teo
Super cutey Teo Wadsworth in the Canada Day parade in Canmore. This was one of our rest days.

Aria
Sara's little Aria did her first fun run race that morning and conceded "other kids beat me but I was the best one running in my dress."

Renner
Great to see Renner at the parade and we missed her in the mountains but wish her all the best with a sibling for Aria due in early 2011.

Thanks for checking in! I'm training in Canmore and heading to New Zealand with our team on July 27th for 3 weeks of sweet skiing.

See you on the trails,

Chandra
