Locked up my Olympic qualification today - phewf!

It's my third time racing in Dusseldorf and I have always had a good time here. In 2005 I scored my first ever world cup points here and in 2007 I was stoked to be 10th. I was counting on a good performance today... my goal for many months has been to go fast enough here to make the top 20 World Cup result benchmark needed to qualify me for the 2010 Olympic Team.

Today Dusseldorf's 828 meters came through for me once again. It was sketchy but I qualified in 27th place and got amped up for the quarterfinal with every fibre of my being focused on getting to the finish line before as many girls as possible. I crossed the line 3rd in my heat, had a fast time to score the 'lucky loser' position, and came 12th after getting seriously boxed out in the semifinal.

I came back to the hotel where Peri greeted me with a big hug and although we aren't going out to get tattoos of the rings just yet... we're stoked to be going!

Thanks for all the encouraging emails and messages,

Chandra
